Reclaiming Who I Am

Susan over at Creos & Dios has a new and very interesting podcast for us to enjoy.

This podcast is the first in a series entitled, Reclaiming Who I Am, drawn from a three-day retreat I gave in February 2008. The title refers to the fact that over the course of our lives things happen that cause us to lose sight of who we really our. Our expierences creat certain baggage in us; we develop certain myths. In this first podcast, I identify some of the myths we live with that block us from seeing ourselves as God sees us, and that therefore block our ability to receive God’s love fully.

This podcast appears to mention the enneagram favorably. As a person who is trying to be a faithful Catholic I'm disturbed by any apparent promotion of the enneagram because of its association with New Age and with dissenting Catholics.

Sherry, I'm interested to know what critique, if any, ID has of the enneagram. I googled the ID blog and found it reference nowhere else.

Thanks:
Tom

I hadn't had time to listen to Susan's podcast so didn't know the contents. Susan had written me, I liked the sprit of her blog, and podcast looked interesting.

We haven't written anything about the enneagram because we don't have anything to do with it and I know almost nothing about it. So I couldn't begin to critique it intelligently.

We strive to be meticulously faithful to the Church in everything we teach and that is pretty much occupying me 24/7.

Thanks for the response. I think it would bear looking into when you have time. My impression of your apostolate is as you said: "faithful to the Church." Unfortunately, as I said above, the e-gram has associations which are not so faithful, and though I'm not an expert on it I believe a judgment that recommends extreme caution if not outright rejection is deserved.

Thank you for your work. I run a Catholic institution that is closely associated with an Evangelical school and the perspective Evangelicals bring "to the table" shows that the Lord has given them many gifts. It's great to have you share that background within the "formal" Church.

I take it you are at Redeemer Pacific? My good friend Mark Shea has spoken there and I've always been fascinated and pleased by the Catholic Institute in a larger evangelical school. The cross-fertilization and spiritual challenge would be most invigorating, I would think.

. . . Ah! Nancy Drew lives!

That's correct. I'm hoping to have Mark her again soon. I'll try to email you about our progress once the term gets going a bit.

BTW my wife Diane was at your workshop in Chilliwack a few years back and really got lots out of it. She's currently using her gifts at the Evangelical institution, TWU, working as parent relations coordinator in the student life department.

In Christ:
Tom
