Sherry's Radio Interview on the Pew Survey & "Personal Relationship with God"

Amazing thing about technology.  Sacred Heart Radio Station e-mailed us the MP3 file for the interview on "personal relationship with God" that I did this morning and we've got it up  on our website here.

It runs about 20 minutes.  I felt like I was babbling at the time but critical listerners tell me its "lively".  Listening to it again, there are some theological nuances I would add (if this were in print and I had more time to work with) but hey, that's live radio.  Warts and all.'

Just click on the icon button to the right of "interview on relationship with God" and the radio interview will pop up. Click on that and it begins

Would like to listen, but the link on the library page is to library.aspx and not to an mp3 file.

Sherry,

People who are having trouble with getting to the interview may have their browser's popup-blocker turned on.

Try turning off any pop-up blocker to allow the audio window to appear onscreen.

Good to hear your voice again. You're still as enthusiastic sounding as the first time I heard you.

Especially enjoyed your comments about Fr. Michael.

I was at one of the very first C & G workshops he gave. I heard pure Dominican--very Catholic--very "third person"--minimal first person.

Other men in the parish have said that he has grown in the past several years.

I'm looking forward to being on a retreat that he will conduct in the fall. I'll ask him to tell us about his "Daniel" encounter.

On another note: the give and take about the term "personal relationship" with God may be part of culture shock. It's not what people are used to hearing. It reminds me of another phrase that gets some people upset.

We charismatics have had to learn to deal with others' finger-wagging over the phrase "baptism in the Holy Spirit" for almost forty years. The phrases may change but the finger-wagging remains the same.

Keep up the good work.

I'm praying for you. We're all in this together.

Peace,
Ed Keefe

Hi Ed:

Just FYI. The Fr. Michael that I founded the Institute with 11 years ago yesterday (1) is not the Fr. Mike who is my co-Director now.

Fr. Michael Sweeney is not only a cradle Catholic but Canadian and Anglo Canadians are much more like Brits in their affect than Americans who are much more demonstrative. Fr. Michael was not used to telling personal stories about himself but he learned and became so good at popular teaching at it that workshop attendees just adored him. I'm sure that you will have a great retreat.

Fr. Mike Fones is also a wonderful teacher and very funny. Apparently i have a vocation to spend my life trying to hold my own with Dominican comics named Michael.
