More on America's Family
I have written before about Steve Bigari, a businessman/entrepreneur in Colorado Springs who is working to end poverty among the working poor. Here's a YouTube movie that gives a brief story about America's Family
There are different kinds of spiritual gifts but the same Spirit; there are different forms of service but the same Lord; there are different workings but the same God who produces all of them in everyone. To each individual the manifestation of the Spirit is given for some benefit. As a body is one though it has many parts, and all the parts of the body, though many, are one body, so also Christ. I Cor 12:4-7, 12Steve is using his gifts to build up the body of our society. God bless you, Mr. Bigari!

Blessings on Mr. Bigari's work and I am happy to see this post pointing us to the problem of the working poor in this country. The idea of a just wage is one of the hallmarks of the social teaching of the Church on work. For example, in Mater et Magistra, Pope John XXIII spoke of the need to pay workers "a wage which allows them to live a truly human life." What does it say about our commitment to principles of solidarity and human dignity that persons working full-time, often two or jobs still cannot afford basic needs?
