Summer Theology Courses, Dominican Style
The Dominican School of Philosophy & Theology, in conjunction with the Pontifical University of St. Thomas (Angelicum) in Rome, offers a wide variety of theological courses during the summer for personal enrichment, Continuing Education Credit (CEU), or full graduate academic credit in three 2-week blocks

Block 1 - June 18-29
Block 2 - July 2-13
Block 3 - July 16-27

Students for the Summer program should register by Wednesday, May 15, 2007
Students may use these courses for any of the following programs:
At the DSPT: M.Div. or MA (Theology) degree programs, or the Certificate in Theological Studies
At the Graduate Theological Union, Berkeley (GTU): Programs with the approval of the academic dean from the host school
STL* (for those already in an STL program)

Classes are held at the gorgeous, new DSPT campus in the sunny San Francisco Bay area, an easy walk from the UC Berkeley campus and the GTU's award-winning Hewlitt Library. The courses offered this summer are:

The Johannine Corpus (3 units) Tatum, M-F/ 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Icon-Sacred Image (1.5 units) McAnerney, June 18-22: M-F/ 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Introduction To Icon Painting (1.5 units) McAnerney June 25-29: M-F/ 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Catholic Social Teaching (3 units) Farina, M-F/ 1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

In Search Of The Church (3 units) Boenzi, M-F/ 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
The Church as Civilizer (3 units) Christian, M-F/ 1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Epics, Faith, and Celluloid (3 units) Rainof, M-F/ 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

New Testament Ecclesiology (3 units) Tatum, M-F/ 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
History of the Sermon (3 units) Hopper, M-F/ 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Neuralgic Issues in Sacraments of Healing (3 units) Christian, M-F/ 1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The DSPT is a great school that teaches with the Church and is led by their President, Fr. Michael Sweeney, O.P., co-founder of the Catherine of Siena Institute. Next summer, expect a course on the Charisms of the Holy Spirit and Discernment!
