CatechismClass.com
A friend of mine told me the other day about an on-line educational formation service called, "CatechismClass.com" I went to their website this morning and looked around a little bit. It looks like it may be able to offer some good resources for catechetical formation. Here's a description of the "Daily Catechism" program:
"Our daily catechism for adults is a great way to learn more about your faith in the comfort of your own home, and at your own pace. Although it is ideal to increase your knowledge with others, through your parish or other religious organizations, sometimes schedules do not always make this possible. This is especially true for people who work odd hours or for busy parents. Our program lets you work at your own pace, while at the same time enabling you to interact with people online who are using the same materials. Our lessons are derived from the themes contained in the liturgical readings and viewed through the prisms of the Catechism & Compendium of the Catholic Church. Each day a different theological dynamic scrutinizes those same lectionary themes."
There are different levels corresponding to different age ranges. The description of the program for adults looks like this:
"The Disciple (Adult) - Lessons are derived from the themes contained in the Readings proclaimed during the previous Sunday’s Mass. The Readings are viewed through the prisms of: the Catechism of the Catholic Church, the Compendium of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and the Baltimore Catechism. Each day a different theological dynamic scrutinizes those same lectionary themes. Monday lessons focus on Scripture studies, Tuesday concentrates on prayer; Wednesday is devoted to Catholic anthropology; Thursday features Apologetics, and Friday looks at the entire gamut of moral and ethical issues. Each daily lesson is configured in such a way as to maintain consistency and routine while simultaneously integrating creativity and spontaneity. Over the course of 3 years adults are exposed to 95% of the Bible and the entirety of the Catechism of the Catholic Church."
The cost of this program is $19.95 - I believe for a year. I'm wondering if anyone has actually subscribed to this or another offering at 4Marks, and if so, what has your experience been?
